	Term 2	Approximations, multiples, factors and primes, equations, perimeter and area
	Term 3	Formula, pie charts. Scatter graphs
Year 9	Term 1	Sequences. Fractions, percentages. Angle rules
	Term 2	Averages and range, probability, graphs, powers and roots
	Term 3	Standard form, ratio and proportion, units and scales, transformation.
Year 10	Term 1 Term 2 Term 3	Year 10 students begin their GCSE Mathematics program of study.

Key Stage 4 Curriculum

Overview

The aims of the GCSE Mathematics specification are to encourage students to develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding in applying mathematical methods and concepts. It enables students to reason mathematically, draw conclusions and make deductions and inferences.
Students learn how to comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of appropriate forms.

Students also have the opportunity to achieve a recognition of achievement in Functional Mathematics.

Students sit one paper out of a choice of 4.

M1 – awards up to grade D
M2 – awards up to grade C*
M3 – awards up to grade B
M4 – awards up to grade A*

This qualification is offered to a selected group of Year 11 students who demonstrate considerable flair in their Mathematics study. Selection for GCSE Further Math’s depends on a good performance in Year 10 examinations.

Overview

The aims of the GCE CCEA course includes:

understand mathematics and mathematical processes in a way that promotes confidence, fosters enjoyment and provides a strong foundation for progress to further study.
understand coherence and progression in mathematics and how different areas of mathematics are connected;
apply mathematics in other fields of study and be aware of the relevance of mathematics to the world of work and to situations in society in general;
use their mathematical knowledge to make logical and reasoned decisions in solving problems both within pure mathematics and in a variety of contexts, and communicate the mathematical rationale for these decisions clearly.
use technology such as calculators and computers effectively, and recognise when such use may be inappropriate; and
take increasing responsibility for their own learning and the evaluation of their own mathematical development.
