Last night, we enjoyed a truly wonderful Annual Prize Giving Ceremony, celebrating the achievements, hard work and dedication of our pupils. It was a lovely evening and a great reminder of why we work in education, seeing young people recognised for their efforts and successes across so many areas of school life.
We were delighted to be joined by parents, guardians and members of our Board of Governors, whose ongoing support plays such an important role in the success of our pupils.
A special welcome and sincere thank you to our guest speaker, Miss Orlagh Falconer, a past pupil and former Head Girl of Strabane Academy. Orlagh studied Finance at Queen's University Belfast and is now a Senior Actuarial Analyst with Mercer. It was a pleasure to welcome her back to present our prizes, and it was clear from her remarks how fondly she remembers her time at Strabane Academy.
Orlagh shared many valuable insights with our pupils, but her key message was to always ask "why?" Drawing on advice she received from one of her teachers (who she cleverly chose not to name!), she explained that understanding the why behind a concept is far more valuable than simply knowing an answer, because that understanding can be applied to any question or challenge that follows.
We thank Orlagh for her inspiring words and for returning to celebrate this special occasion with us. We wish her every success and happiness in her future career.
Congratulations also go to our current Head Boy and Head Girl, Sam and Melissa, who delivered their reports with confidence, composure and real pride in our school community. A fantastic job! π
Congratulations to all of our prize winners and to every pupil whose efforts and achievements were recognised. We are incredibly proud of you all. πππ
